      Ford expecting one third of its sales from Asia and Africa by 2020

      World’s renowned carmaker, Ford Motors Company is expecting about one third of its global sales from the fast growing auto markets of Asia Pacific and Africa by year 2020, as per a compaby statement recorded on Friday.

      The current scenario of sales for Ford indicates that one out of every sixth car sold globally today is in the Asian and African continents.

      "We expect one third of our sales to come from Asia Pacific and Africa by 2020," Ford Motor Company Group Vice President Joseph R Hinrichs said at a press conference in New Delhi.

      Eyeing the future and the latest happenings in both the continents, the American auto major is speculated to introduce over 50 new vehicles over the period of coming 10 years as 60-70 percent of company’s growth largely depends on the sales from Asian and African region.

      Commenting on Ford’s prospects in the Indian auto market, Hinrichs said that as soon as the economic growth of people in tier II and tier III cities betters, the company sales will simply take off.

      He said "We are going to see immense growth once tier II and tier III cities in the country take off by the middle of the decade.”
