Ford will launch the new Endeavour for the Indian market tomorrow at an event in Mumbai. This is the next-gen variant of the SUV that was unveiled at the 2014 Bangkok Motor Show.

The new Ford Endeavour will be offered in two diesel engine options for the Indian market. There is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder unit and another more powerful 3.2-litre five-cylinder mill. The former powerplant produces 158bhp of power and 385Nm of torque and comes mated to the six-speed manual gearbox. The latter churns out 197bhp of power and 470Nm of torque. Apart from the manual gearbox, this one will additionally be offered with the six-speed automatic transmission as well. The 3.2-litre version will be available as a 4x4 variant, while the 2.2-litre set-up will be restricted to the 4x2 layout.

The new Ford Endeavour is very similar to the 'Everest concept' first showcased in Sydney, Australia in 2013 and is sold as the Everest in other markets. The fascia boasts of an imposing radiator grille, LED daytime running lights, brawny front bumper, new alloy wheels and rear underbody protection. Apart from these distinct highlights, the car sports the 'Endeavour' badging on the new model.

The latest iteration of the Endeavour takes the SUV’s off-road capabilities to a new level thanks to the new, ladder frame chassis and a more modern four-wheel drive system. This SUV might be slotted in the Rs 24 lakh to Rs 28 lakh price bracket and will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Trailblazer and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in our country.
