Upon its launch in India, the Ford EcoSport would be pitted against Renault Duster, Mahindra Quanto, Premier Rio and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the compact utility vehicle segment. The stylish car is pegged as the biggest new launch for the 2013 calendar year and is expected to replicate its global success on the Indian soil. Ford has trimmed its compact SUV EcoSport with several class-leading features like Emergency Assistance system, 550 mm water wading capacity and the much fawned upon automatic gearbox.

Ford India has planned to make India its next automobile export hub for the EcoSport. At present, the compact SUV is being assembled at Ford's Chennai-based manufacturing facility. The India-spec Ford EcoSport range will be available in four trim levels- Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium Optional. The soon-to-be launched little beast is fitted with several safety features, such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) system, front and rear airbags, keyless entry, Hill Climb Assist and rear parking camera with sensors. The standard safety equipments include central locking, electronic swing gate release, engine immobiliser, locking wheel nut for spare wheel, child safety door locks and seat belts.

The EcoSport would become the first car in India to get the state-of-the-art Ford's Emergency Assistance system. On the highly impressive safety feature, the Ford India President and Managing Director (MD) Joginder Singh was quoted as saying, “Ford’s Emergency Assistance system has already proved itself as a life-saver in other parts of the world and we expect our customers here to appreciate this level of reassuring in-car connectivity.”

With the new EcoSport model, the company has planned to introduce its world class Ford Emergency Assistance system, which provides remote distress call-for-help if the car gets involved in an accident or some other unfavourable situation. This system operates by sending a critical voice message from the car to the remotely located emergency operators. Further, the cutting edge system sends information regarding if or not the airbags were deployed or the fuel pump was shut off, besides providing a reliable medium to start hands-free communication. The advanced Emergency Assistance system can also be synced to a smartphone and allows the driver to communicate easily with the outside world in case of a problem. The company offers its Sync Emergency Assistance service for free and without any hidden cost or subscription fees.

Speaking on the new technology, Ed Pleet, Connected Services Director at Ford Motor Co. of Asia Pacific and Africa and Europe, was quoted as saying, “Since 911 Assist (SYNC’s North American version of Emergency Assistance) was launched in 2008, we have heard many remarkable stories about how the technology made a difference for people in their time of need. We are constantly working on new innovations to provide Indian customers with the latest smart features and Emergency Assistance certainly raises the bar on in-car technology and connectivity in India.”
