In an effort to strengthen its position in the Indian market, Ford will be introducing its latest, the Aspire Sports, in the country. In terms of upgrades, the Aspire will share some similarities with the upcoming Figo Sports and will be based on the Titanium trim of the current Aspire model. Reports indicate that mechanically the Sports variant will continue to be offered with existing engine options, and any changes made will be limited to cosmetic upgrades.

Speaking of changes, it is believed that the upcoming Aspire Sports might get the dual-tone exterior which was last seen in the KA white and black editions. To distinguish it from a regular version, the exterior will sport dual-tone ORVMs, redesigned front with honeycomb mesh grille while the rear is adorned with a sporty rear spoiler. The new model will also get an updated infotainment system along with contrast stitched seats and upholstery.

The Aspire Sports will continue to be offered existing petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant comes in two engine options – 1.2-litre Ti-VCT and 1.5-litre Ti-VCT where the former produces 87bhp at 6300rpm and 112Nm at 4000rpm, and the latter generates 110bhp at 6,300rpm and 136Nm at 4250rpm of torque. The diesel version is powered by 1.5-litre TDCi that generates 99bhp of power and 215Nm of torque. The smaller petrol engine and the diesel version come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the bigger petrol version comes mated to a 6-Speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

Post launch, we believe that the upcoming Aspire Sports will compete against the likes of the new Hyundai Xcent facelift and the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Currently, the Ford Aspire is priced between Rs 5.44 lakh to 8.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Though the pricing aspect for the Aspire Sports is not known for now, we believe that it might be priced at least Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 over the current price.
