Force Gurkha has always been a popular name in off-road segment in the country. This time around, in an effort to thrill off-road enthusiasts further, the Indian automaker has launched the 2017 Gurkha at Rs 8.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The extreme off-road vehicle is available in two variants – 3-door Xplorer and 5-door Xpedition. The new models are powered by an updated BSIV compliant diesel engine from Mercedes.
Under the hood, 2017 Force Gurkha gets a 2.6 litre inter-cooled, direct injection, turbocharged BSIV compliant diesel engine that puts out 84bhp of power at 3200 rpm and 230Nm of peak torque. The fairlywell-powered engine is paired to G-28 5-speed all-synchromesh manual transmission and offers four-wheel drive with low range, and locking front and rear differentials.The vehicle gets a new suspension setup along with a new ladder-frame chassis. The front gets independent struts with gas-charged shock absorbers, while the rear features a new multi-link setup that also features gas-charged hydraulic shocks. As for safety, the SUV gets anti-roll bar.
For freshness, the new Force Gurkha variantssporta new grillealong with new bumpers at the front and the rear. The vehicle gets all-terrain tyres as standard. The three-door Xplorer variant is offered either in hard top or with a fabric soft top with a choice of seating configurations – five, six and eight seat arrangement. While, the five-door Xpeditionis available onlyin hard top withseven or nine-seat configuration including the driver. As for interior, the new model gets some fresh revision in form of new steering wheel design, revised air-con controls and a new gear lever.
