After giving us the first glimpse of the new all-electric sedan, the EMotion in October, Henrik Fisker has confirmed that the production spec of its new EV will be revealed on August 17th, 2017. Fisker is aiming for the EMotion to compete against the Tesla S when it goes on sale sometime next year.

Fisker asserts that the carbon and aluminium structure will be 20 per cent lighter than the other cars of similar proportions. Many of the design aspects of the EMotion bear an uncanny resemblance to the VLF Automotive’s Force 1 car. The EMotion carries forward all the design aspects of the prototype showcased last year including crazy butterfly doors, flared wheel arches, aggressive and aerodynamic front fascia with boomerang headlamps, a swooping roofline, absent rear overhang, and stout proportions with large wheels. The carmaker claims the EMotion will have ‘superb leg room’ owing to a new unconventional powertrain. The new pure EV will make use of a new battery technology, which incorporates graphene supercapacitors instead of traditional lithium ion batteries. These batteries will be developed in-house by the Fisker’s battery division – Nanotech. Fisker claims that the EMotion will have a range of about 645+km on a single charge and will hit a top speed of 260kmph.

Then there is also the autonomous driving capability of this car, which is still in the pipeline. Although still under development, the future car will be fully autonomous once the technology is developed and integrated by the supplier, said the carmaker.

The Fisker EMotion will be produced at the VLF Automotive facility where two luxury performance cars – Destino V8 and Force 1 V10 are being manufactured with Fisker’s assistance. The carmaker hopes that this car will be able to pave the way for a more consumer-friendly, mass-produced and affordable electric car that Fisker claims will be more affordable than the Chevy Bolt and Tesla’s Model 3.
