First electric car charging station introduced in Mumbai by Tata Power

Electric cars are not unknown in India. The likes of the Reva and now the E2O along with a barrage of electric bikes have been doing the rounds for quite a few years now. What is unknown though is the availability of charging station in the cities. Tata Power decided to be the first to address this and installed its first electric vehicle charging facility at Vikhroli in Mumbai. Owning an electric car just got a tad bit easier with Mumbai’s first car charging point.

The company aims to build a network to make it easier for people to adopt EVs and be future ready. The adoption of smart charging infrastructure is just a baby step in the right direction. Tata Power has taken this initiative of providing charging stations along with Mass - Tech Controls. These chargers would facilitate electric car users to charge their cars (Battery Electric Vehicles such as the Mahindra e2o, Nissan Leaf, etc) at any time safely and conveniently. The chargers can also monitor the car battery charging status and units consumed while charging a car. The company plans to set up charging stations at various locations in Mumbai and is already in discussions with various stakeholders.

The availability of charging points is sure to encourage more manufacturers to bring in more electric cars and with an electric future in sight, this is definitely a step in the right direction.
