Fiat has expanded its new Tipo range by introducing new hatchback and estate models at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. These new additions will eventually be sold alongside the Tipo sedan which was originally shown at the Istanbul Motor Show last year.

Starting with the hatch, this new model is 4.37m long, 1.79m wide and 1.50m tall. As a daily runabout, it puts up a strong case for itself with a boot space of 440-litres. The more practical estate version is rated at 550 litres, thanks to an extra 20cm of length (4.57m).

Fiat will be offering a total of five engine options with the new Tipo range. There are two turbo diesel engines – a 1.3-litre MultiJet II producing 95hp and 200Nm and a 1.6-litre MultiJet II with an output of 120hp and 320Nm, while the petrol engine range consists of 1.4-litre with 95hp and 125Nm, a 1.4 turbo petrol with 120hp and 206Nm and the 1.6-litre unit developing 110hp and 152Nm.

Designed and developed in Italy and Turkey, the Fiat Tipo will officially go on sale in the UK later this year. As for the Indian market, Fiat India has no plans to introduce it locally and instead will continue to sell the Punto and the Linea range.
