Fiat, the Italian carmaker, recently revealed its plans for the Indian car market, which includes 12 new car launches. The company is preparing for the launch of Abarth 595 Competezione, while the next 2 products under Abarth badge- the Abarth Punto and Abarth Avventura would be introduced in the second half of 2015. Fiat will also introduce the Jeep brand in 2015 and will launch two SUVs- the Wrangler and Cherokee. And an all-new SUV is also in the works to rival against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour.

Fiat will also launch an all-new five-door hatchback globally, which will replace the ageing Punto hatchback. If reports are to be believed, the successor for the Punto will be named as “500 Plus” and will go on sale in the European markets in 2016. The Punto successor is expected to hit Indian shores in 2016-17. The all-new five-door hatchback will be based on the company’s “New Global Small Platform”, which is the stretched version of the Chrysler’s small car architecture.

The reason behind new 500 Plus is that the company wants to capitalize on the growing demand for 500-family cars. The new hatch will share its styling cues with the other 500-badged cars. It will be positioned between the standard 500 and the 500L mini MPV.
