      Fiat-owned Jeep to unveil its range at 2016 Auto Expo

      Fiat India that recently introduced Abarth brand, has officially confirmed that it will unveil its Jeep lineup at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The announcement came from Kevin Flynn, Fiat India CEO, who revealed this during a radio show. He also announced that the Jeep range, including the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee and Renegade, will be launched in the Indian market in the first half of 2016. The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be the first product to be rolled out followed by the Wrangler and the Renegade. According to reports, the company is also planning to open 15 exclusive Jeep showrooms in the country. Though, the company might initially sell Jeep vehicles through Fiat dealerships.

      Powering the Jeep Grand Cherokee will be a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that will be paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine churns out a maximum power of 236.7bhp at 3,600rpm and 569Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. This SUV will be offered with three driving modes – Manual, Automatic and Sport. It will also get paddle shifts equipped in the steering wheel.

      The Jeep Wrangler, on the other hand, will be propelled by a 3.6-litre V6 engine that produces a maximum power of 240bhp and 380Nm of torque. Transmitting power to the wheels will be a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Wrangler Unlimited, the four-door version of the SUV, will get a 2.8-litre diesel engine. This vehicle will get the ‘Command- Trac NV241 4WD’ system as a standard feature.

      While the Jeep Grand Cherokee is expected to be priced around Rs. 35 lakh – 45 lakh (ex-showroom), the Jeep Wrangler could be offered between Rs. 20 lakh – Rs. 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
