      Fiat Announces to Launch World's Cheapest Car

      Fiat's CEO, Sergia Marchionne, announced that Fiat proposes to bring world's cheapest car in India by the year 2010. Talking to the reporters at the 48th Annual SIAM convention, Sergia Marchionne, told them that Fiat also plans to launch its cheapest car by the year 2010. However, he did not disclose the price of its "cheapest" car.

      Fiat is also talking to several Chinese companies for possible tie-ups and partnerships along with those in India. Fiat intends to deepen its foothold in the Asian markets and boost its market share. According to the industry sources, Fiat was in talks with Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group in China and already has tie-ups with Chery Automobiles.

      On the Indian front, Fiat is looking at a possible joint venture with Tata Motors to supply engines to the recently acquired Land Rover and Jagaur brands that are ready to make their foray in the country. According to Sergia Marchionne, Fiat has approached Tata Motors with a proposal for the same. "It is one of the available options that we have. We have made that clear and told them we will discuss this issue if asked," he said.
