Mercedes-Benz has been testing the facelifted S-Class and a prototype was spotted recently. The minimal camouflage hints at the changes on the flagship Mercedes sedan, which will come next year as a 2018 model.
And even if the refreshed car isn't completely revealed, we are sure the top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz car will get more tech and will be more luxurious. Cosmetically, there are minor changes to the front that include reworked headlamps. These have a different shape from the existing model and feature new three LED lamps as DRLs. These will be a part of Mercedes’ next-generation Multibeam LED matrix headlight technology. The front bumper is also modified and looks a little smaller. The fascia gets these minor changes, while out back we can't see any modifications.
Going by what Mercedes does to their cars in a mid-life product cycle, we can expect the carmaker to update the engines of this upcoming S-Class. They might tune the current powertrain to deliver more power and better fuel economy. Also, the seven-speed automatic gearbox will be replaced by the new nine-speed transmission. Reports also suggest that the more powerful version might get the AMG brand's new 4.0-litre unit in place of the current 5.5-litre V8 mill.
Mercedes-Benz might be looking to introduce this 2018 iteration of the S-Class next year. So we can expect it to go in production early in 2017. With its global launch next year, this facelifted model might also be launched in the Indian market then.
