A facelifted version of the Datsun GO hatchback was spied ahead of its Indian debut later this month. It’s a mid-life update for the car and sees it get a whole addition of features to bring it up to what is expected from cars in this part of the market.

      Datsun Go facelift

On the outside, there’s new bumpers in the front and rear, LED DRLs and a new design for the alloy wheels. It is safe to assume that this is a top-of-the-line model and only this one will get these features.

It’s got the same grey and silver cabin as the current car but now with all-four power windows, touchscreen infotainment system and possibly dual front airbags and ABS with EBD (regulation from April 2019).

The Indonesian market now gets the option of a CVT in addition to the five-speed manual but for India, we only expect the 1.2-litre petrol and five-speed manual. This engine is a three-pot and produces 67bhp/90Nm.

The Go is a rival for the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre. However, with the new model, we expect a price hike pushing the top model into the same range as the Tata Tiago, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, upcoming Hyundai Santro and Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.
