      Expansion Plans from TVS

      The Indian scooter and motorcycle maker launched its new motorcycle "Flame" in Bangladesh today. TVS plans to increase its market share from eight percent to 12 percent in Bangladesh by adding more models to its product portfolio in the neighbouring country. It expects the motorcycle market to boom in Bangladesh in coming years.

      HS Goindi, President, TVS Motor India (Domestic and International) stated that approximately about 100,000 motorcycles are sold each year in Bangladesh and the company shall be able to grab 12 percent market share in next eight months. It also expects the demand for bikes to move up as demand for cars has gone down due to rise in fuel prices. In Bangladesh as well, the petrol prices have gone up to 55 taka per litre from 40 taka per litre. Flame gives a mileage of 65kmph and is expected to be a success in the country.

      TVS Auto Bangladesh Ltd is a fifty-fifty joint venture between TVS and Rian Motors in the country that stated its operations in July 2007. It has already sold approximately 7000 motorcycles since it commenced its operations. All major brands of motorcycles currently mark their strong presence in the Bangladesh auto market.
