Land Rover recently raised its bar, once again, by bringing in the all-new Evoque sports utility vehicle in India. The crossover would possibly emerge as the cheapest and smallest car among the Range Rover's existing SUV line-up. The Evoque has earned laurels even before its global launch on July 1, 2010, at Kensington Palace, London, as it received 30,000 worldwide bookings.

The immensely bold and attractive SUV has been rolled out with a price tag of Rs. 45.48 lacs (ex-showroom, Mumbai), for the base diesel model. As a result, the Evoque would find a place between cars like the Audi Q5 and the BMW X5. The starting price for the former and latter is around Rs. 39 lacs and Rs. 54 lacs respectively.

Thus, it seems that Land Rover has made an effective effort to create a distinct identity, for itself, in the luxury SUV market. The Pure, Dynamic and Prestige are the three variants under the diesel model that carry a price tag of Rs. 57 lacs, Rs. 53.38 lacs and Rs. 54.36 lacs respectively. On the other hand, the petrol model being offered in the Dynamic trim costs Rs. 59.47 lacs.

The Evoque displays futuristic looks and a perfect design that would definitely set an example for SUVs, in the coming time. It is important to note that the recent launch by Land Rover appears more like a sports car than an SUV, which indeed proves to be greatest advantage for the car. In India, the Evoque will be equipped with a 2197 cc diesel engine and a 1999cc petrol engine. Moreover, the diesel variant will be sold as a five-door model, while the petrol one will have a three-door body.

The Pure model is a consummate blend of luxury and sportiness, and the Prestige model is undoubtedly the most classy model available in terms of interiors. On the other hand, the Dynamic model displays the most stylish features among all the other variants. All the trim levels come with high-end features, such as a touch screen interface, Bluetooth connectivity, an 11-speaker audio system, cruise control, a panoramic sunroof and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Thus, Land Rover has ramped-up its operations in the rapidly growing Indian market, ensuring that no stone is left unturned.
