      Evolving over time the next-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class is believed to be all geared up to get a family of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engine options. The German automaker is expected to unveil this new-generation of engines at the upcoming Detroit motor show that is due to be held in January next year. The company is also believed to be working on a long-wheelbase version of the E-Class and Maybach E-Class based on the LWB model.

      The anticipated 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is expected to generate power output figures ranging between 181bhp and 241bhp. The top-of-the-line AMG model shall likely get 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The 2016 E-Class would also get in-line six-cylinder turbo-petrol motor that would generate about 329bhp in the E400, while the E450 AMG may generate about 362bhp. The new E-Class could come mated with either six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic gearbox. Automatic may however be offered only on the manual variant.

      It is also believed that the company may also introduce Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system on the new line. Sources have also indicated that a petrol hybrid model could be available in E350 e and a diesel hybrid could also be introduced. More details about the new family of engines could be known at the upcoming event.
