In a development that is bound to excite superbike aficionados in India, Italian brand Ducati has officially entered the country’s market again. The Audi-owned superbike brand first made its foray into the country’s market over half a decade back through a partnership with Precision Motor India, a firm that became Ducati’s only importer. However, this time around, Ducati has opened its own subsidiary in the country that will operate sales and service. The contemplation regarding the opening of this subsidiary has been going on since the beginning of 2014 and Precision is now going to be one of the firm’s distributors.

The firm, named Ducati India Pvt Ltd, will operate through its dealerships in cities like Mumbai, Gurgaon and Delhi. A statement was released by the company, which said, "In addition to a new dealership is opening in Bangalore shortly."

Ravi Avalur, the Managing Director of Ducati India, spoke about the development with considerable excitement. "Our intention was to open in India with an official Ducati presence only when we were absolutely ready. I can now confirm that our after-sales service centres will ensure exactly the same high standards achieved across Ducati's global network," he said.

Representatives from the company further added that the process of identification, confirmation and training of dealers is going on currently. The models from the Italian brand that will be up for sale in these dealerships include Diavel, Monster, Superbike and Hypermotard.
