DSK Motowheels is stepping their foot on the accelerator as far as the two-wheeler dream is concerned. The company had launched the brand Hyosung, a few years ago, in the Indian market. The company is now all set to introduce the legendary Italian name, Benelli Motorcycles in March. Interestingly, a company has less chances of surviving in such a high-demand bike market without a manufacturing plant, so the company has decided to establish one in Maharashtra.

The factory will manufacture almost all its products that will be marketed in India. It is expected to have a production capacity of 1 lakh units by the year 2020. This will attract an investment of approximately 350 crores INR. The base work for the manufacturing plant has already begun and will be production ready only in 18 months’ time. The first motorcycle is expected to roll out only after two years. This new manufacturing plant will produce Benelli and Hyosung motorcycles, thus bringing their costs to a comparative level. There are also chances that the company will be exporting motorcycles from India. Benelli, incidentally, has already a manufacturing facility in China and it is unlikely that India will export bikes from here.

It has thus, drawn the interest of several global motorcycle brands to launch their products in the country. DSK Motowheels is expected to witness a boom in the next couple of years, riding on the launch of Benelli Motorcycles.

Shivapada Ray, COO, DSK Motowheels, said, "Plans are already in place for a manufacturing facility that will come up in Maharashtra. It will take 18 months to build the plant and the roll out of products is likely to happen in two years."
