The domestic arm of Volkswagen, a globally renowned German auto maker, is in for major top level management change with Dr. Wolf-Stefan Specht set to start office as the new Head of Volkswagen Passenger Cars sales of India from April 1, 2013. Dr. Specht, 43 years of age, will replace Maria Stenstrom, who has been given the command of handling the operations of Volkswagen Group Canada as its Managing Director (MD) and Brand Director of Volkswagen Canada .

The German auto major is carrying out a worldwide process including changes in the top management profiles and strategies. Apart from Dr. Specht and Stenstrom with revised responsibilities, John P. White has been shifted to Volkswagen Group Australia as its Managing Director and Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars. White will assume office and new liabilities with effect from April 1, 2013. Further, ex-Head of Volkswagen India- Maria Stenstrom has been identified as White's successor at the company's Canadian division. As per reports, White is taking over the command of Volkswagen Group Australia from Anke Kockler, who is set for a different role and division.

Dr. Wolf-Stefan Specht has been given the territories of India and the Far East as part of his latest job description. Prior to his new assignment, Dr. Specht worked as the Head of Central Sales Region, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, a position he held for more than two years since 2010. He joined the German automotive firm in the year 2001 and has been a member of senior management positions since 2004. Evidently, Volkswagen is still a new name as passenger car maker in Indian auto market and chases Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Honda, amongst others in terms of total sales. Accordingly, Dr. Specht has a huge task ahead of taking the brand name Volkswagen to top of the sales charts in the country.
