Keeping in mind the rift between villagers and the workers who have been sacked by Maruti Suzuki, the District Magistrate, Shekhar Vidyarthi, has taken a severe action. Vidyarthi imposed prohibitory orders that fall under Section 144 of CrPC. This imposition is applicable for areas that are in proximity to the Maruti Suzuki India Limited. This area covers places like Mini Secretariat Gurgaon, Devi Lal Park Manesar, Maruti Suzuki company at Manesar and IMT Manesar.

According to the orders of the District Magistrate, carrying of weapons and the grouping of five or more people is strictly banned with no relaxation. In addition to this ban, the orders also prohibit the carrying out of any procession or protest, an event that might cause potential anarchy. Orders are applicable till the 18th of July and anyone violating the rules is liable for punishment under Section 188 of the IPC.

It is termed as a wise move by the District Magistrate, who explained the whole premise with a clear intent. The situation has the potential of becoming a huge conflict that might lead to a lot of violence, owing to which these decisions have been taken. This cautious approach might be able to help in avoiding a confrontation between the workers and villagers. He said, “Keeping in view the maintenance of peace, tranquillity and to avert chaotic situation or untoward incident, law and order problem, inconvenience to citizens and business entities, these orders have been enforced in public interest.”

The immediate incident that triggered the imposition of these order was the initiative by villagers and panchayats to give memorandums to the Commissioner of Police and the Deputy Commissioner. The main villages involved in this act are Bas Padamka, Kasan, Dhana and Bas Kusla. Memorandums provided by these villagers explain that they will be opposing any protest or procession carried out in the IMT Manesar region.
