Post the success stories of Brio hatchback, Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda is ready to launch its sedan version. It is speculated that Honda will launch the new sedan in China and Thailand in April 2013. However, the car will be possibly launched in India, with a diesel variant, later in the year. The Honda Brio Diesel will be the first offering from the company with a diesel-powered engine.

Specifications of the car point out to the fact that it will be pitted against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Mahindra's yet-to-be-launched Verito and Tata Indigo eCS. Depending on the price range, several others like Hyundai Fluidic Verna might also face some competition from the new entrant. The size of the car is expected to be within 4 metre, so that the car is able to make several significant tax cuts. Speculations are afloat that that car will have a 1.2-litre engine; however, industry experts believe that the car could be powered by at least a 1.5-litre engine.

The fact that Honda is bringing in a CNG ready version of its biggest market player City triggers off rumours that post the petrol and diesel-powered Brio sedan, a cost-efficient CNG variant might be in the pipeline. Honda has not yet not made any official declaration of the sedan Brio being launched in India and the focus is on Chinese and Thai markets currently. However, a Brio sedan in India will be a huge relief for loyal Honda sedan fans in India as the auto giant had been concentrating mainly on its hatchback models Jazz and Brio in the last couple of years.
