Car with automatic transmission, having no clutch and high acceleration, are very much in demand by the price sensitive Indian buyers these days. Well, to fulfil their dreams, Maruti Suzuki last year launched the all new Celerio, a hatchback that had Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The car became popular as soon as it hit the market, increasing the sales of the Indian company drastically. The diesel car is now on every mouth of the town, as some series of information has leaked about the launch and specifications of the car. The reports claim that the diesel version of Celerio will be introduced in the first quarter of 2015; however nothing is confirmed by the company officials.

The hatchback is currently available in petrol and CNG fuel options. The ex-showroom price of the petrol version is Rs. 3.9 lakhs. The petrol variant comes equipped with a 998 cc, 3-cylinder, k-series engine that produces a maximum power of 67 bhp with peak torque of 9.1 kgm. With a decent output, it returns a fuel efficiency of 23 kmpl for both AMT and manual versions. The petrol version is available in six trims, two with AMT and four with manual transmission.

Along with, the CNG version of the car was launched at Rs. 4.68 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). It has the same 1-litre engine, which is reset to give 68 BHP of power in petrol mode and 60 BHP of power in CNG mode. As per the reports, the diesel version of the car is said to have a 0.8- litre engine. Reports have also claimed that the diesel engine will produce a maximum power of around 45-50 bhp with a peak torque of 120-130 Nm. The fuel efficiency is said to be 30 kmpl, much more from its petrol version. The exterior and interior is said to remain the same; just some adjustment in the suspension can be there.

The car is expected to be launched in four variants – LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI (o). Also, there is no report of the diesel car having Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), but it is likely that Maruti Suzuki will give this technology in its upcoming car. Industry experts believe that post launch, the new Celerio will have tough test competition with Ford Figo and Chevrolet beat.
