While India is still in the accepting phase of hatchback crossovers, there are manufacturers experimenting with other vehicle types. The only other non hatchback crossover is the Renault Stepway which is a rugged version of the standard Renault Lodgy. But then would you buy a cross version of a premium sedan?

At the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota showcased a tough version of the Corolla Fielder which is essentially a station wagon. The Japanese car major had displayed multiple crossover offerings at the motor show and did receive lots of attention for their unique styling. The Toyota Cross Fielder has a large chrome grille with multiple slats and sleep lights flowing outwards from it. The projector setup of lights also gets LED day time running lamps. The bumper sees generous use of chrome along with well placed fog lamps.

To the side, the cladding theme continues with large 5-spoke alloy wheels done in gloss black. Interestingly, in addition to matte cladding there is also extensive use of chrome on the rocker molding along with under the window line and door handles. The rear profile looks like a larger version of Honda Mobilio with wider LED taillamps. In terms of dimensions, the Toyota Corolla Cross Fielder is 4420mm in length, 1710mm in width and 1550mm in height.

The dual tone interiors are finished in plane shades of white and black. The dashboard sports white leather while the steering wheel is in dual shades of white and black. It also features a touch screen infotainment screen. Powering the Toyota Corolla Cross Fielder is a 1.5L DOHC motor with automatic shift. It is not coming to India anytime soon but will be an interesting offering if launched as there are no D-segment sedan crossovers in the country.
