Ahead of its launch next month details have emerged on the upcoming 4WD variant of Renault Duster compact SUV. Sources have revealed that changes likely to be seen on the exterior front include tinted head light lenses similar to those equipped in Duster Adventure Edition. Renault could roll out two trims in 4WD variant, the base and a high end version. Base model is expected to come with regular steel wheels; on the other hand high-end version could be bestowed with alloy wheels. A ‘4WD’ badge will be affixed on the boot lid varying it from regular trims.

Inside the cabin, 4WD variant is likely to receive a new steering wheel or in fact a new centre for steering wheel looking more modish than the one in regular trim. Seats could get red accents adding to the sportiness of the interiors. Renault could incorporate a five-inch touchscreen unit from LG in the high-end 4WD variant. Controls for the 4WD system will be placed below the AC knobs. The 4WD system will offer three driving modes-2WD, Auto and Lock. Besides these, the 4WD variant is speculated to get a traction control. Renault will hold a preview of 4WD variant for its existing customers, while launch will happen in September. We expect 4WD variant to be priced Rs 1 lakh more than the top end model in Duster range. A hypothetical price of Rs 12.9 lakh is being speculated for the SUV. When launched 4WD Duster will face competition from the likes of Mahindra Scorpio 4X4 and Tata Safari Storme 4X4.
