      Delhi Diesel ban will help Maruti, Hyundai and Honda

      Recently, the Delhi government applied a ban over buying diesel cars from January 2016. This will be affecting car sales in the national capital as it will be hampering sales of diesel cars. A not so good for brands like Mahindra, which has majorly developed diesel engines. The UVs in the Indian car market are mostly diesel. So, buyers of diesel SUVs are likely to shift to buying a petrol SUV or another vehicle itself. So, models like Tata Safari Storme, Mahindra Scorpio, Mahindra Xylo and the Mahindra XUV500 will be the worst hit. Diesel produces more pollution than its petrol equivalent and hence this new law has been passed.

      NGT has banned the sale of diesel cars in Delhi, astoday the national capital region is one of the most highly polluted cities in the world. So, to reduce that the government has come to this conclusion. Diesel engines will be sold only for commercial use and majorly trucks plying in the city.

      This is going to help sales of automakers that are stronger with petrol engines, like Honda, Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki. Small cars are mostly diesel engine powered and this will be seeing a further increase in its number. Most of the compact sedans and premium hatchbacks have a waiting on their petrol engines and this is likely to increase further. The Delhi government had even levied a rule that the even and odd number cars will be on the road on alternate days, which wasn’t highly appreciated by the city dwellers.
