For a number of years, DC Design, owned by Dilip Chhabria, has been making headlines for giving makeovers to vehicles and designing concept cars. It has a dedicated customer base that includes some of the most famous celebrities across the country. Prototypes and stylised versions of cars made by DC Design have created a place among the elite with a penchant for unique models. Now, according to a recent report by Financial Express, this firm is contemplating the idea of becoming a producer of niche vehicles on a larger scale. Notably, the company has DC Avanti, regarded by many as the first Indian sports car, in its portfolio. Priced around Rs. 25 lakh, this car has received an excellent response from buyers in India. Hoping to carry this momentum forward, the company is working on a couple of upcoming models. Dilip Chhabria, in an interaction with the media, spoke about the future plans of DC Design.

According to Chhabria, these cars are going to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2014, which will be held in Greater Noida. Also, both models, set to be unveiled at the upcoming automobile extravaganza, are going to go under production soon after. "The first is a four-seater convertible SUV, which is not rationally dimensioned, and an extremely small car, smaller than the Nano. Both the products will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo in Delhi in February when the first batch of 25 cars of the DCAvanti will also be flagged off," he said. Although the initial batch of Avanti models are going to be sold at a price of Rs. 25 lakh, a hike of Rs. 5 lakh is expected to be made at a later stage. From June 2014, this firm, reportedly, will have a per month production capacity of 100 units for DC Avanti. Owing to increasing requirement of promotion, DC Design has a strong marketing strategy in place, which is scheduled to begin on the Internet from February.

Talking about the new Sports Utility Vehicle, Chhabria claimed that it is an irrationally designed car that is 'drop dead gorgeous'. The other vehicle is expected to be a compact two-seater and is likely to attract a high number of buyers. Slated to be priced between, Rs. 18 lakh and Rs. 40 lakh, Chhabria expects these models to carve a niche among youngsters. Finding people to invest and raising capital do not seem to be problems for DC Design. The firm's manufacturing facility, located in Pune, already has a production capacity of 1000 per month.
