DC Design, a Mumbai based automobile design firm, has an astonishing line up of highly modified and popular Indian cars at its retail outlets. Since its inception in 1993, DC Design has produced over 600 modified and one-of-a-kind models, which range from stylish super sports cars to a complete revamp of the iconic Ambassador.
At present, DC Design offers several enticing modified models under its moniker 'DC Lounge', such as Toyota Innova, Mahindra's Thar and XUV500, Force Motors Tempo Traveller, Tata Winger executive van, Volkswagen Tuareg and Hindustan Motors' Ambassador amongst others. The DC Design's modified Ambassador model is called 'Ambierod' and received rave reviews at the 2008 New Delhi Auto Expo.
The company claims that its Ambierod is a perfect semblance of cutting edge technology and world class comfort and luxury features. The Ambierod concept looks unbelievably Indian and yet possesses a certain global appeal. The vehicle comes equipped with an automated instrumental overlay trimmed with a satellite and navigation system, rear view camera and LCD tellys. Further, Ambierod features beast of a V12 engine under its hood and its interior cabin resembles that of an executive class jet liner.
DC Design has modified the Innova Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) in a totally grand avatar, which consists of a partition that separates driver cabin and occupants' 'lounge'. The passenger area comes fitted with an upgraded Air Conditioning (AC) system, state-of-the-art leather and fabric draped recliner seats along with fully carpeted flooring. Other world class trimmings include 12 V direct charging point, full length central console, two fold side tables and intercom.
The DC Design modified Tata Winger has the potential to revamp the long distance travelling style. The executive van comes equipped with almost all possible electronic gadgets, such as 26 inch LCD televisions, two component speakers, DVD player, intercom, stereo system, computer system with wireless keyboard, 12 V refrigerator and an inverter to power the electricals on board.
DC Design also showcased its Avanti concept, first sports car designed by an Indian, at the 2012 New Delhi auto salon. The DC Avanti incorporates a mid-mounted engine sourced from Ford, a 2.0 litre, four cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor that churns out an astounding output power of 261 bhp. In future, the super sports car might also feature a V6 motor that could deliver a maximum power output close to 394 bhp. The engine assembly will come mated with a six speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) system. The DC Avanti is expected to be launched with an introductory price tag around Rs. 25 to 30 lakhs in the country.
