First made in India sports car- the DC Avanti is all set to go on sale in the Indian car market by early 2015. Unveiled at the 2012 Delhi Motor Show as a concept, the production spec model largely resembles the concept. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 35 lakh (ex-showroom).

India’s first sports car, the Avanti is 4,550mm long, 1,965mm wide and 1,200mm high. It comes with a decent ground clearance of 170mm, which is more than sufficient to drive it through rugged Indian roads. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to 20-inch alloy wheels with 255/35 front tyres and 295/30 rear tyres. DC Design engineers have used the various carbonfibre components, which makes it light.

Under the bonnet is the 2.0-litre, 4-pot turbocharged engine that is capable of producing a top power output of 248bhp and a peak torque of 241Nm. This engine is coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox which sends the power to rear wheels. Its braking system comprises of 330mm ventilated disc brakes at the front and 295mm at the rear. The disc works with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), which offers better braking performance.

The bookings for the DC Avanti have already commenced at a token amount of Rs. 5 lakh, while the deliveries are expected to commence by March-April.
