Sources close to the development suggest that Datsun has started testing the upcoming Go+ MPV near the company’s jointly built manufacturing unit located in Chennai. Datsun will launch the MPV in India in 2014, though there is no clarification on the time frame yet. The company had displayed GO+ MPV at the 12th Auto Expo held in February this year at Greater Noida.

Underpinning the Micra platfrom, the sub-four meter MPV will measure 3,995 mm long. A 1.2 litre petrol engine will help the vehicle to qualify for the low excise duty levied on sub-four meter vehicles. Confined length will further help the car maker to price the MPV aggressively getting an edge over its rivals. The 1.2 litre, three cylinder engine engendering maximum power and torque output of 68 PS and 104 Nm respectively is the same engine that does duty in GO hatchback. A five speed manual transmission is expected to be paired with the vehicle.
