Datsun is a sub-automobile brand owned by the renowned Japanese manufacturer Nissan Motor Company. This company was launched a year back and is currently working hard to carve its niche in the Indian automobile sector. Notably, Datsun is re-launched by Nissan after a gap of three decades. Till now, the brand has launched a couple of models in India, namely GO hatchback and GO+ MPV. Industry experts are of a view that the company will fair pretty well with its upcoming models in the near future.
GO hatch happens to be the first model of Datsun in India, which competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ritz and Hyundai Eon. The car features a hexagonal grille at front with chrome inserts that give it a sporty look. The headlamps extend from the front hood to the mid-section. Notably, its side profile is quite similar to the Nissan Micra. With all these features, the car comes between a price range of Rs. 3.24 lakh to Rs. 4.05 lakh.
On the other hand, Datsun GO+ is a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV). With a wheelbase of 3.95 metres, the MPV qualifies for the sub-four metre rule. Although the car features a modern design, it could not strike right chords with the hearts of Indian buyers. The price range of this model starts at Rs. 3.8 lakh, ranging till Rs. 4.61 lakh.
In order to create a mark in the Indian auto market, Datsun is planning to launch a reworked version of Go hatchback. Reportedly, the company will be adding safety features like airbags and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) in its new Go hatchback. Recently in a crash test, Go hatch failed and therefore the brand has decided to use high tensile steel in its new model so that it can withstand high pressure, in case of collision.
