Back in 2014 Auto Expo event held in Delhi, Datsun had showcased its redi-Go hatchback that indeed caught the fancy of many attending the event. This time around, sources have spotted the test mule, thereby hinting on a possible launch soon. Post launch the vehicle is expected to emerge as a strong rival to Maruti's top-selling small car Alto 800 and the Hyundai Eon.
The Datsun redi-Go would be powered by 800cc engine three-cylinder engine that would be mated to five-speed manual gearbox and generate about 54bhp of power and 72Nm of torque. It is also believed that the company may also offer the model with an optional AMT transmission at a later date. In terms of efficiency, it may return a decent figure of about 25km/l.
Based on what could be seen, in terms of design the Datsun redi-Go shares some design cues from the Kwid hatchback. The rear taillight however gets a new arrangement. Likely to be launched as an entry-level model, it is likely that Datsun's redi-Go may get similar features as seen on the Kwid hatchback. More details about the vehicle may be known at a later date.
