Datsun India has launched the Redigo for Rs 2,38,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). The entry-level hatchback with crossover-like appearance competes with the Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Renault Kwid. It is available in five variants with the top-spec S trim costing Rs 3,34,399.
Based on the CMF-A platform, the Redigo shares lot of components with the Kwid, but undercuts the Renault and most of its competitors on pricing. It uses the same 800cc three-cylinder petrol engine producing 54bhp and 72Nm of torque, with power going to the front wheels via the five-speed manual transmission. The ARAI efficiency of the Redigo is 25.17kmpl.
The base variant of the Datsun hatchback misses out on the basic features like the AC and power steering. The top-end model has folding seating, front power windows, infotainment system and also driver side airbag. The hatchback is available in five colours – grey, white, red, silver and green.
