Nissan’s low cost brand Datsun has apparently commenced production of its upcoming MPV, GO+. With the production in the run, the vehicle is expected to go on sale soon. If media reports are to be believed, GO+ MPV is likely to be rolled out in January next year. Already available for sale in markets like Indonesia, GO+ MPV will be offered in a sub-four meter avatar in domestic market sporting three row layout. The MPV is expected to be the least priced offering in its segment where it will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio.

However unlike Ertiga and Mobilio, to get to the third row, one has to completely fold the second bench which sounds a tad uncomfortable. Being four meter in length yet offering three row layout infers that the headroom and legroom is going to be limited. Though with the folded completely, enough space can be created for storing luggage.

Power is expected come from the same set of engines that currently power GO hatchback. Under the hood, we expect the same 1.2 litre, three cylinder, petrol engine that is good for 68 PS of maximum power. Suspension set up in the front and rear is also likely to be same as seen in GO hatchback.

Nissan has already made it clear that under Datsun vehicles will be pried competitively; hence it would be interesting to see how they price the upcoming GO+ MPV. If priced rightly the MPV could emerge as strong threat to its competitors in MPV segment.
