Thanks to the amount of information available on the internet coupled with optimum computing speeds of today’s computers, Daimler revealed that the development of their Artificial Intelligence on their future vehicles was in full swing.
The company has highlighted that Artificial intelligence could only become popular on a large scale if there was trust between man and machine. Which means that ‘AI’ should only be allowed to scan decisions and obtain outcomes in quicker turn-around times. MB’s ‘AI’ that’s under development could analyse current traffic conditions for all forms of transport, and propose one option that fits the user’s personal daily routine and mood. So, it could ideally evaluate the user's behaviour and adapt to the situation; like play the favourite music or set the cabin to the preferred temperature.
For all this to happen, the vehicle needs to acquire and study information about the user, environment and situations. Mercedes-Benz is reportedly working on optimising automatic image, pattern recognition, and the interaction of cameras and sensors on autonomous driving vehicles, as these need to clearly recognise pedestrians regardless of the circumstances.
"Artificial intelligence is a key future topic for Mercedes-Benz, in-car and beyond, such as in the fields of mobility services or in development and production", says Anke Kleinschmit, Head of Daimler Group Research. "Artificial intelligence has ceased to be science fiction and the progress in autonomous driving is an impressive proof of this.
Mercedes-Benz has made it obvious over the last few months that they want to be a part of the future plans for mobility, and this is apparent from their earlier electric vehicle strategy too.
