The latest addition to the XC90, the S90 and the V90 is the middle-weight SUV, the XC60. In line with Volvo’s striking new design style and based on the newly developed platform, the XC60 is all set to spice up the premium SUV segment. It costs Rs 55.90 lakhs ex-showroom and here is the list of cars the Volvo will have to fight against.

      Audi Q5

The Audi Q5 has been one of the highest selling SUVs in this segment. It is stylish and spacious, but the design now is more than half a decade old. The XC60 is as new as it can get and with its never ending feature list, it gives you a lot more car than any of the competitors. Also, with its 235bhp engine, it is the most powerful one in this segment - another win for the Volvo.

      Mercedes-Benz GLC

Mercedes-Benz has been leading the luxury car market for the past couple of years and the sheer presence of the brand has helped the GLC. Also, with the all-new design and the typical lavish interiors of a Mercedes car, the GLC scores well on the aspirational quotient as well. But so does the all-new XC60. With its loud styling and 4x4 as standard, the XC60 packs quite a punch.

      BMW X3

The X3 has been a silent warrior for BMW, catering to a niche segment of buyers that are largely loyal to the brand. Being a BMW, top notch quality and all the luxury bells and whistles are all a part of the game, but the Volvo seems to trump the Bimmer on all fronts, at least on paper. With ventilated and massaging seats in the front and heated steering and ventilated seats in the back, you certainly know what you should be considering before you buy.

      Land Rover Discovery Sport

Now, the Land Rover is the real brawler in this segment when it comes to off-roading. The Volvo XC60 also comes with 4x4 as standard, but it is more of a soft-roader. As for the experience inside, the Volvo’s futuristic cabin is exactly opposite of the old-school basic interiors of the Land Rover. In terms of specs and features, the XC60 scores just a little over the Discovery Sport.

      Range Rover Evoque

Even with its all-new styling, the signature Thor headlamps and the vertically slatted grille stealing the show, the Volvo XC60 cannot match the Evoque in pure looks. Underneath those fashionista lines of the Rangie, the Evoque is also a capable off-roader. But except for these two things, it has nothing that matches the Volvo XC60, which makes the latter a formidable option even for the ones who like bling.
