The American automobile multinational company, Chrysler Group LLC, recently revealed plans to showcase its 2013 Dodge Viper at the New York International Auto Show. The company has decided to dodge its previous plan of revealing its next generation sports car at the Detroit Motor Show and is gearing up for the New York Auto Show in April next year.

Ralph Gilles, Chief Executive Officer of Street & Racing Technology, Chrysler Group, confirmed the reports in an interview with Viper magazine. Street & Racing Technology, commonly known as the SRT, is the high-performance automobile division of Chrysler Group.

Sources revealed that the Michigan-based car marker underwent thorough research and development for the next generation Dodge Viper. The sports car developers at the company reportedly approached several Porsche owners and various other world-class sports car owners in order to enquire about their individual preferences and what changes can be made to develop a better version of Dodge Viper.

The engine specifications of the 2013 Dodge Viper have not yet been confirmed by the company. However, the new generation Dodge Viper is expected to be powered by an 8.7-litre, V10 engine. The impressive engine will generate a maximum power output of more than 600 bhp and torque of 760 Nm.

The performance of the new Dodge Viper is similar to the fourth generation Dodge Viper, the Phase II SRT-10. The super car assembled with 8.4-litre, V10 engine and six-speed manual transmission respectively delivered peak power and torque of 600 bhp and 760 Nm.

The 2013 Dodge Viper, after its official unveiling at the New York Auto Show, will enter the production stage in 2012 and will be offered for sale as the 2013 model year.

Chrysler Group LLC is expected to take a major leap with its next generation 2013 Dodge Viper.
