The China only BMW 1 Series sedan has been spotted in the People’s Republic ahead of its production and sales later this year. It will be the new entry-level model from Bavaria and replaces the hatchback model.
We have seen multiple model of the 1 Series including the concept car which was called the ‘Compact Sedan Concept’ and these latest images confirm that the vehicle is smaller version of their traditional range comprising the 3, 5 and 7 Series. It is underpinned by automaker’s the UKL2 platform and will be offered in China with a range of petrol engines.
In China, it will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLA, Audi A3 and the Volvo V40 in the entry-level luxury segment. We are sure to get this car in India and in addition to the range of petrol engines, it will also get the 1.5-litre diesel unit found in the Mini range currently on sale here. Expect local assembly and an early 2018 debut for the same in India.
