Chevrolet India, the completely owned subsidiary of American auto maker General Motors, has suspended the production of diesel guise of Sail sedan, Sail U-VA and BS III version of Tavera Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV). Sources close to the devselopment process have stated that the move has been taken because of some technical glitches found in the models. It must be also noted that all of the company's authorised dealerships have been informed not to sell these models until any update from the auto maker's desk is issued.

However, the exact problem is yet not disclosed by the American auto maker, but has said that this problem is only restricted to the diesel-run cars. The reason cited for the discontinuation of Tavera's production is because of an emission issue, which forced the auto maker to take such a step. Considering the discontinuation of Sail sedan and U-VA hatchback, Chevrolet India stated that there has been some quality issues with the diesel engines of both the models. Reportedly, the engine packed within these models is a Multijet engine, which has been co-developed by Italian auto maker Fiat and General Motors. This 1.3 litre powertrain is produced at the American auto maker's Talegaon plant.

It must be noted that this engine has been also assimilated within the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV; however no such directions for that model has been issued by the car maker. With this fact, industry experts are of a view that the company must provide some more clarifications on its suspensions of these models. It is also expected that the auto maker may announce a recall for its all the above mentioned three models.
