      Chevrolet Spin MPV, Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV caught testing in India

      General Motors India's first compact MPV - the Chevrolet Enjoy - that failed to lure many buyers in the country, might soon be replaced by the Chevrolet Spin, which is a more up-market product than the former. The company is planning to bring in this MPV next year; and before that it will launch an all new SUV - the Trailblazer. Expected to be launched during this year's festive season, the Trailblazer will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe and the upcoming new-gen Ford Endeavour. The company has imported both thevehicles to India for Research & Development purpose; and both the products have been recently spied testing in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

      The India-bound model of the Chevrolet Spin MPV will feature a split grille with large headlights and wraparound taillights, similar to its global model. The MPV will be bigger and more spacious than the Ertiga. It will measure 4,360mm in length, 1,735mm in width and 1,656mm in height, and have a long wheelbase of 2, 620mm. Power for the Spin MPV will come from a 1.4-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre MJD diesel unit.

      While the 1.4-litre petrol unit produces a maximum power of 104PS and 131Nm of torque, the oil burner churns out 90PS and 200Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmissions could be on offer. Set to rival against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and Renault Lodgy, the Chevrolet Spin MPV is expected to be priced within range of Rs. 6.5 lakh - Rs. 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

      Talking about the Trailblazer, the premium SUV is built onGeneral Motors' Colorado pick-up truck's ladder frame chassis. The SUV will measure 4,878mm in length, 1,902mm in width and 1,834mm in height, and will have a wheelbase of 2870mm.

      The Trailblazer will be powered with a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder unit that develops 180bhp of power and 470Nm of torque. This powertrain will be mated to 6-speed automatic transmission. The SUV will be equipped with advanced safety features like ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake-force distribution, ESC (electronic stability control, hydraulic brake assist, hill descent control, traction control, airbags etc.
