Amid increasing environment consciousness and rapidly rising technology, auto makers throughout the world look towards launching electric cars in the near future. Chevrolet too has been giving hints about launching an electric vehicle, the Spark EV, for the past few months, which was showcased way back in 2010 at the Delhi Auto Expo. The auto maker has now announced the US version of the Spark EV that would be showcased at the LA Auto show on November 30, 2012. This car surprisingly looks very similar to its Beat.
MyLink, which is an advanced adaptation of Chevrolet's voice control system will also, for the first time, be shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show. MyLink offers a wide array of features which include streamlined connectivity to smartphones through voice activation and steering controls and hands free calling, to name a few.
“Chevrolet continues to build on the momentum of eight consecutive quarters of record global sales with the introduction of more new products, features and technologies that are designed to offer consumers exceptional functionality, comfort and convenience. The Spark EV and next-generation of MyLink demonstrate Chevrolet's commitment to delivering the advanced technologies that today's consumers will be eager to adopt and truly value,” said Chris Perry Global Vice President of Marketing at Chevrolet.
The latest models from Chevrolet like the Sonic RS, Malibu Turbo, Impala and Camaro Hot Wheels edition will also be shown at the LA Auto Show. Only a limited number of Spark EV to be showcased at LA Auto Show will be available for sale in select US cities and the global market. While the Spark to be showcased at the LA Auto Show resembles Chevrolet Beat, the one that would available for Indian market will have a different look though there is every chance that the Indian-centric version will have the same battery.
