Chevrolet has just issued a recall for the Cruze in India. While the company did not divulge exactly how many cars are affected by the problem, these have rolled off the production floor between 2009 and 2011.

      Chevrolet India recalls the Cruze

This voluntary recall was decided upon after a series of cars experienced engine stall or loss of ignition at slow speeds. Chevrolet has added that the inspection process along with the repairs or replacement should not take more than one hour. Owners of the affected Chevrolet Cruze will be contacted so that they can get a prior appointment for the inspection at the nearest Chevrolet service centre. Alternatively, owners can also proactively call the nearest Chevrolet dealership and schedule an appointment for inspection and repairs if necessary.

“We are committed to putting our customers at the centre of everything we do and providing safe, high-quality vehicles. If we foresee a potential issue, we ensure that it is corrected as soon as possible, as part of our complete commitment to customer satisfaction. This is a voluntary recall and, as far as we are aware, does not affect the safety of the vehicle but we want to make sure that our customers experience the right performance from their vehicles," said Markus Sternberg, Vice President – Aftersales, General Motors India.

Chevrolet has instructed their dealers to smoothly carry out the inspection and repair process. Owners will be given the choice of getting their Cruze picked up and dropped to a residential address. All affected vehicles will be repaired at no cost to the owner at any GMI service centre in India.
