Chevrolet has hiked the prices of the entire range of their cars owing to the increase in the cess and additional luxury tax being levied on cars above Rs 10 lakh. Hardeep Brar, VP Sales, General Motors India, said “The revised prices will be applicable from today across our range.” The price of the entry- level Cruze will remain the same .

The price hike ranges from Rs 3,500 mostly for the Spark and will go up to Rs 51,000 for the flagship Chevrolet Trailblazer. The Chevrolet line-up includes the Spark, Beat and the Sail U-VA hatchbacks. While the Spark and Sail sales figures have been quite low for quite some time, the Beat still manages to sell around 700-800 units a month on an average. The Sail sedan is consistently selling around 300 units a month, nowhere close to the leaders in its segment. Utility vehicles, the Enjoy and the Tavera, rake in 1,000-1,200 units every month.

While the Trailblazer seems to have slowed down after the initial spurt, the Cruze has started in selling decent numbers since the facelift. The numbers have crawled to three digits from two and the realigned pricing will try to sustain the growth and remain untouched.
