General Motors India Private Limited, the country’s fifth largest passenger car maker, is all geared up for the launch of its Chevrolet Enjoy model in the domestic auto market. The Chevy Enjoy is a Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) and could see Indian daylight on May 9, 2013. The stylish car made its debut at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo, where it managed to garner some rave reviews from both industry experts and media critics alike. The Enjoy is expected to come available in both petrol and diesel options, and would lock horns with the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

Experts believe that the yet-to-be launched Enjoy seven-seater MPV would play a crucial role for General Motors India, which has found mixed success in the form of its Chevrolet Sail U-VA hatchback and Sail sedan models. Evidently, Sail U-VA failed to live up to its initial hype, while its sedan version has managed to record some impressive sales numbers. The Chevy Sail entry level sedan has witnessed over 8,000 bookings in less than three months of its launch in the domestic passenger car market. Therefore, the upcoming Chevrolet Enjoy MPV is expected to do a game replay for the American firm, upon its arrival on the Indian turf.

The Enjoy model is the product of a joint collaboration between General Motors and Chinese auto giant- Shanghai Industry Automotive Corporation (SAIC). The American auto major has claimed that its MPV is perfectly suited for the needs and requirements of Indian car buyers. At the New Delhi Auto Expo, Chevy Enjoy model appeared spacious, comfortable on the inside and aesthetically well done in terms of exterior design. It seemed like an ideal MPV for the average Indian family, with good headroom and legroom for seven occupants, along with decent space for luggage.

Coming to under-the-hood specifications of Chevrolet Enjoy, the stylish MPV is expected to be powered with 1.4 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel engine options. The petrol power-mill would churn out power output close to 100 bhp, whereas the oil burner would be rated with close to 80 bhp of peak power. Upon its launch, Enjoy would be pitched against Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia and Mahindra Xylo in the MPV segment of Indian auto market. As per industry sources, the Chevy Enjoy could be launched with price tags in the range between Rs. 6 and 8 lakh in the country.
