Election time has known to attract anti-social activity across the all states. Luring people with promises and dreams in return for votes is not a new phenomenon. The lucrative offers are just not restricted there, it goes further to offering money and alcohol depending on who needs what philosophy. With the Polls due to be held on October 15th, Maharashtra officials expect a rise in such cases. The concerned departments are also video-graphing intercepted vehicles at check posts. An officer said, “While cash seized by teams set up by police and income tax officials is returned in case it can be accounted for, in case of liquor, the seizure and vehicles are confiscated and the people involved are arrested. This may have led to a paucity of transporters to ferry liquor. We have also caught two-wheelers and cars containing families which were being used to move liquor to Maharashtra from Daman and Goa.”
