      British motorsport brand Caterham Cars marks its debut in India

      Caterham Cars, the British motorsport brand is all set to enter in the Indian market, with FMCG firm Dabur’s promoter, Burmans. The company will start selling its built- to-order models - Caterham Seven – in the Indian market by the first half of next year. The product line-up of Caterham will also include firm’s latest car SP300R that carries a price tag of 66,000 pounds.

      The Indian operations of the firm will be taken care of by an independent firm - Caterham Cars India. The Indian unit will be jointly owned by Burman family scions (Mohit Burman and Gaurav Burman), and Matt Cummings (a UK citizen).

      The models are priced in the range of Rs 28 lakh up to Rs 90 lakh. The announcement of the debut of motorsport brand Caterham Cars came just a few hours before the starting of the high profile Formula One Gran Prix in the country at Grater Noida.

      Speaking to the reporters, Caterham Cars Managing Director Ansar Ali said, "We think we are entering India at the right time when the country is set to host its first Formula One event. Caterham being motorsports oriented, we think we can provide an affordable option to motorsports enthusiasts here."

      The company has planned-up an investment of $ 5-10 million to set-up an assembly unit in Grater Noida. A part of this investment will also be utilized in carrying out different brand awareness campaigns.
