The upcoming BMW Z5 will be the newest roadster to be rolled out from the German automaker’s facility. We have managed to get hold of a few pictures of the Z5 test mule. The new model might come as a replacement to the Z4 model. The new BMW Z5 will compete against the likes of Porsche 718 Boxter and Boxter S.

Based on anticipation, we believe that the BMW Z5 will be offered with two engine options. The entry-level variant likely to be called the sDrive30i, might get a new B48 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine which is expected to generate 295bhp of power. The top-end variant likely to be called the M40i, might get the new B58 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine that generates around 345bhp of power. Both the cars will be rear-wheel powered.

As for the design aspect, the upcoming BMW Z5 roadster will get a power-folding soft top instead of a folding metal roof which adds to the weight. The images indicate that the new Z5 might ditch the kidney grille design for a new rectangular shaped grille. The test mule sported 10-spoke blackened alloys that completes its roadster design. Additional details about the car will be known in the coming days.
