BMW has confirmed the development and presence of the X7 SUV in a presentation at its annual press conference. The single picture from the presentation reveals the vehicle as the German automaker’s new flagship utility vehicle.
The X7 has been under development since 2013 and is believed to be jointly developed by BMW and its ultra-luxury brand Rolls-Royce. It is expected to be underpinned by the same RWD platform used in the latest generation 7 Series.
There are hardly any details available about the vehicle at present but we be can sure of a few things. It is expected to be offered in seven-seat and five-seat configurations both with larger capacity petrol and diesel engines as well as AWD. There will also be an M version which is expected to get a large twin-turbo petrol motor and rear-biased XDrive system.
It is way too early to make any speculations about market positioning and rivals but we can say this much that this car is certain to arrive in India just a short while after it is launched.
