German auto manufacturer, BMW, seems elated with the success of its compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) X1 in the domestic market. After refurbishing it with minor facelift in 2013, the company decided to give this car another makeover. The new version of X1 will be flaunting some minor tweaks at exteriors and interior. Sources are speculating that from March 2014, Indian auto aficionados will witness the remodelled X1s, running on the road.

The news comes blended with surprise and anxiety as BMW had just recently unveiled the already facelifted version of its compact SUV in the market. Somehow, the designers of the company are so obsessed with looks that they constantly want an upgrade on every feature of the car. The Standard, Sport Line and xLine models of X1 will be undergoing surgeons knife and bear new transformations. Exterior is tweaked slightly with the front apron tray of all the models bearing a reformed, modish design. Wheels are remodelled and a new colour scheme of sparkly brown is added to the existing patterns.

Interiors are refined with superior quality leather and fabrics to give an elegant touch. The instrument visor is wrapped with a soft textured material, which the base model will also bear, unlike the all hard plastic used inside the current standard version of X1, sDrive20d. Rear portion will display stainless steel strips on the edges of tailgate. Furthermore, the iDrive system of the car will be upgraded with the latest version of BMW ConnectedDrive services.

On the technical front, the ongoing X1 is offered with an option of 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines. The sDrive20d is the basic variant, while sDrive20d Sport Line happens to be the mid-end model and topmost being sDrive20d xLine. A blistering speed of around 205 kmph can be clocked by this mean machine, facilitated by its 6-speed automatic transmission and turbocharged engine.

It is also anticipated that the driving and suspension controls have been upgraded to provide a smoother ride. With its fierce adversaries as Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz B-Class Sports Tourer, X1 is intensifying its domestic presence gradually. Interestingly, the German trio has been competing with each other since ages and Indians are much newer to this rivalry. However, experts are of a few that BMW has already thrashed Mercedes-Benz, in terms of sales, and the former is expected to conquer this battle of compact SUVs. Also, the unique features included in the car will surely tempt Indian buyers and the revamped version is expected to turn heads.
