As per our recent reports, BMW will be launching the new 5-series models in India shortly. The company has not divulged details of India-bound variants but it had unveiled the new BMW 5-series model at the recent Geneva Auto Show. BMW 5-series Touring was showcased to the overseas customers and the Indian luxury car buyers may also have finer and better options of 5-series models coming this July. “The new 5 series in completely knocked down (CKD) version will be available for Indian customers by July 2010,” said BMW India’s President Peter Kronschnabl at a press conference in Munich.

Kronschnabl confirmed that the new BMW X1 model will also be available for the Indian customers from December 2010. Both the models will be imported as completely knocked down (CKD) units and will be assembled at its Chennai plant. “Though we haven’t yet started bookings, we have got a phenomenal response from the customer survey in India for both the models,” he added further.

Apart from launching new car models BMW is also actively looking at selling pre-owned cars from April 2010. It will open its first pre-owned cars’ showroom in Chennai this summer.
