The much talked about BMW i8 has been finally unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo event in Delhi by world renowned cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. The car being a hybrid, also features in the list for top end sports cars at the global platform. At the event Sachin Tendulkar, said, “I am feeling excited to see BMW i8 today.”
The BMW i8 is powered by highly efficient 131 hp electric motor that drives the front wheel of this supercar. The rear wheels are powered by a 1.5 Litre petrol engine. The three cylinder petrol mill generates about 231 Hp that powers the rear wheels. Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India, said, “The BMW i presents a ground breaking concept with visionary electric vehicle and mobility services, creating a new understanding of luxury that is strongly defined by sustainability.”
The BMW i8 is powerful performer and highly efficient too. A first glimpse of the car for the world was caught at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. On the battery mode the i8 can cover around 35kms while the speedometer reads 120 km/hr. Mass scale production version is expected to available by the end of 2014 or early 2015. Pricing shall also be revealed at a later date.
